Erica Santiago, born to a Puerto Rican father, Hector Santiago, and an Italian mother, Lucia Bugatti, led an average childhood in the Bronx, New York City. From a young age, she exhibited a strong talent for mechanics and machinery, learning to repair cars and other vehicles by assisting her father in his neighborhood garage. Her mother, a talented artist, dedicated herself to homemaking while gaining recognition in her hometown in Italy. Despite living in the New York Ghetto, her parents earned a decent income and provided a loving environment for Erica, striving to offer her the best possible life.
Her father, a former US Marine Sergeant, instilled in Erica the values of discipline and hard work. Although she embraced her tomboyish nature, her mother taught her the finer points of female decorum and how to behave like a lady.
At 16, after her father sustained serious injuries that prevented him from managing their auto shop, Erica took the helm of the garage and supplemented their income by offering custom bodywork and paint services. Tragically, shortly after turning 18, her mother succumbed to an unknown illness, plunging her father into a profound depression, which led him to turn to alcohol for solace. To combat their financial woes, Erica sought any means to earn money. She used her expertise in cars and motorbikes to engage in street racing and, influenced by her father's past as a Golden Glove Boxer, participated in underground fights and worked as a bouncer in various clubs and bars.
After several years of navigating this life, everything took a dark turn when, at 22, Erica returned from a racing event only to discover her father's brutal murder in their family garage. The only lead was a symbol written in her father’s blood on the wall. Frustrated by weeks of inactivity from local authorities and lacking leads, Erica pledged to seek revenge for her father's death and to make those responsible for taking the most significant person in her life pay.
